A trip to the romantic era with Noha Ata

Amidst all the mass producing fashion houses and the so many emerging young talents we have here, it so refreshing to see someone like Noha Ata coming out to the world with a soft and romantic collection like her first ever one. A collection that takes you to a trip to one of those romantic old books sitting still at your parents' deserted library. Noha is a young talented Egyptian designer who is still taking the first steps at the path of her career. Born in the United States and moved to Egypt for middle school. She always had a passion for Fine Arts but ended up taking on a BA in Integrated Marketing Communication at the AUC with a minor in Art.

Seeking excitement, challenges and creativity she first fell in love with the idea of designing clothes for women at a course where they took a look at fashion history through film. The pieces from her Spring/Summer 14 collection" Sweet Melancholia" are very feminine, youthful and playful with a vintage feel; they are worked with a muted color palette, dainty guipure laces and soft silhouettes.

Noha says she was inspired by Sophia Coppola's The Virgin Suicide movie, a movie that affected myself deeply as well. If you have no idea what I am talking about, go watch that movie. Noha also designs for The Egyptian label Allaga, a very beautiful brand that I am going to blog about very soon. I loved loved every piece in her collection, and I loved the designer behind it, such a cute and down to earth person, and also I loved the fact we share the same name.
