Last week I flew to Dubai specially to attend Splash fashion show, and as you all know Splash is One of the biggest retailers for affordable clothes in the Middle East.
Titled ‘Splash
Fashion Xcess’, the Summer 2016 fashion show brought together color, embellishments, textures topped with grunge inspiration.
With two sub
stories- Mod Maximalism and Grunge Maximalism taking centre stage, a little bit
of everything seems just about the right way to enter the season. What you get
in the collection is a modern hybrid between neat designs with a maximalist
edge.
The event was held at the Asateer hall, Atlantis, the guests were welcomed into a pre-function
area which was nothing short of a feast to the senses. A walk through the
tunnel with multicolored heart facets, one was immediately transported to an
eclectic dimension. Adorned with mirrors and raw bulbs on either side, the
replication of things exemplified the Maximalism theme. The pre-party zone complete
with archways and elements inspired by the grunge culture like metal chains set
the mood for the show .The energy was palpable with trap and dub step tunes creating
an electric ambiance. Making way into the runway dotted with LED screens, one
was able to get a glimpse of the theme through a lucid graphic display.
I was lucky enough to made it to the behind the scenes and had a glimpse of the hair and makeup before the show. The makeup was bold and daring with dark lips, and hair was funky hippy big hair more of the punk style.

After the Show I was able to talk to with Mr. Raza Beige, the founder and owner of Splash, and what a humble lovely and hospitable man he is. He told me when I was a young man, I didn't have a lot of money, and I always wanted to wear and look nice. So when I started the Splash group I wanted to create fashion for everyone, you see splash is the destination for all ages and categories to shop the latest trends at the most affordable prices in the market. If you are on budget then it is the right place for you, and if you are so into fashion and love to wear high end brands, you will still love to shop at Splash for a special piece to complete their outfits, or for comfortable clothes that they can even wear at home.

While the Grunge Maximalism is more of embellishments bikers and studs, suits sets, skater skirts and asymmetric dresses with eyelet details.
