My Can't Leave The House Without Product

On a one good day I decided to go pamper myself a little bit in the spa, so I went to have an oxygen facial to deeply moisturize my face, as the last period I was noticing that my face has become dry at the last period of time. When the tough tempered Russian beautician started applying the cleanser on my face, she noticed how dry my face was, she kept on asking me a lot of questions
about my daily beauty routine, and my lifestyle. It turned out that I don’t drink enough water (you are supposed to drink at least 8 full glasses of water every day, seriously who could do that, whoever does that, I am sure he spends the other part of the day at the loo. Other thing that increases the dryness of the face, is staring to the laptops/TVs screens more than 8 hours a day, which I over exceed significantly. But when it came to the question do you apply a sunscreen before going out every day, hearing my answer, the beautician showed her aggressive Russian side, she was nearly shouting to me, hearing that

I never wear sun screen except by the beach or if I am wearing makeup already containing a protecting SPF. She said that the main reason behind my dry skin is not wearing SPF fortified cream every day and that the sun heat takes away all the moisture from my skin, and dries it out, and by time it has become sensitive that it turned red ,oh silly me I thought that was a natural blush. The beautician warned me that if I didn’t act immediately, and start taking care of my skin, some pre mature wrinkles will start on appearing starting from the area around the mouth then it will start increasing bit by bit over the years.

Adding to the wrinkles she said that those harmful sun rays can cause also dark blemishes and spots that can easily ruin your skin colour, or God forbid can cause in some cases skin cancer, which has spread abundantly in our time, and it main factors is exposing to sun without protection between the time of 10 am till 3 pm. And to be honest unless you are a vampire, no one can really obliged to stay home away from the sun during that time, it’s crucial time during the middle of any working day, and even on a day off you will still have to go out for any reason, if not for the beach which is even more dangerous, since the sea waters reflect the sunrays and can cause severe damage.

Horrified from what I heard, I rushed home running for the nearest laptop – ignoring what she told me about the harmful screen rays whatsoever- I can live with one small wrinkle but I can’t live without my internet. I stayed for hours reading review about the best sunscreen that you can wear with or without make up and won’t show or bother you with its smell all the day long. I came across the Chanel UV essential sunscreen and anti-pollution lotion; I read a lot of reviews saying it’s one of the best products in this category. So I purchased, it is of course a little expensive for sunscreen but it has a lot of benefits that makes you not feel guilty after purchasing. First it’s so light weighted, its smell is really good, matte and not greasy, can be worn alone or with makeup, it won’t make your foundation cake. And it has some anti-bacterial functions so it will help your face stay fresh all day long, perfect if you suffer from acne or pimples, yes it won’t help but it won’t make it worse, as it won’t break you out or increase sebum secretion. Plus all of that the bottle looks really luxurious and after all it’s CHANEL.

What's in her bag and interview with Yasmine Yeya

I first saw Yasmine in LBC's famous show Mission Fashion around 9 years ago. I was a big fan of her work at that show, and she did really good job getting the first runner up place, and getting a great chance to intern at Elie Saab's fashion house in Beirut. After this Yasmine settled down in Cairo opening an elegant atelier where it became quickly the destination for Egyptian and Arabian fashionable brides. Yasmine is a very elegant and down to earth lady, a hybrid Egyptian French  fusing the best of the two worlds to create white dreams. Yaya travels the world for inspiration and to source unique fabrics which she is famous for. When I asked her to tell us what's in her bag, she laughed and to told me , well I am a very practical person I don't carry a Chanel bag, I have a big bag with all kind of things inside. I laughed myself and told her that exactly what we want to see.
So almost a month and half ago I headed to her Heliopolis located atelier and as soon as I stepped into Maison Yeya, all my beautiful wedding memories came back to me, I had this feeling that I am a bride all over again, and waiting to receive my dreamy wedding dress.

As I entered the atelier ....

- Yasmine, most of us knew you from the reality TV show Mission Fashion, but we want to know the story before the show, how did it began? It started with my grandmother, I used to sit and watch her design dresses and saw them herself and that's when I first realized that I like that, I would love to make my own clothes and dresses. Then it evolved into designing and executing dresses in general.

- In a very short time, you succeeded to place your self as the best wedding couturier in town, how did you manage to do this? No person in any field can achieve a solo-success or work on something this big on his or her own. What I always tell my team is that our work is the sum of the excellence of each individual. If one fails to do his or her part, the whole project will fail. It’s like an orchestra where all of us have to perform to execute a beautiful symphony. The process starts with a bride. Women have always been my inspiration. So it starts with the client coming into the atelier. If I’m designing an haute couture gown, the bride is always my muse. Her beauty and her soul put me in an imagination trip. The ideas then go to paper and from paper to my workshop.
- Your dresses scream luxury, what materials do you love to work with ?I feel like if I asked you that question you would answer with 'Lace'. People started seeing a sort of pattern in my dresses and I like that. I like the idea that people can see a dress and know that this is a Yasmine Yeya dress, at the end of the day every designer has their own signature and I think lace is mine

- Tell us more about Yasmine at home not at the atelier.
I'm a very private and homey person. And I usually like to keep it that way. so you wont find in any of my marketing channels anything that specifies what happens behind the scenes, in my home for example.

-Other than Haute Couture, what are your interests?Right now, couture and fashion designing are taking all my time so I seriously have no time to pursue any hobbies or any of that. But if it wasn't for fashion designing I think I would have liked to become a doctor and find a cure for cancer, it's one of those things I think about often.
- What do you think of the Egyptian fashion scene?
I think people are becoming more aware of what suits them and they are starting to develop an identity away from what's internationally popular. People are becoming more true to their selves and their own style.
- Where do you like to shop? And who are your favourite local designers?
There are so many now and they are all very good. I personally look forward to seeing designers like Amina K. and Deana Shaaban have to offer in the future. And after my latest collaboration with Sabry Marouf, so excited to see what those guys have in store.

 - What was the most challenging dress you have ever designed ?
The most special to my heart is my sister’s wedding dress. It was the most emotional experience I went through.

- No plans for a fashion show soon, or a fashion week participation?
All I can say is stay tuned and get ready.

- This is would be the most frequently asked question you always hear, but how can brides to be reach you?
Well our social media platforms I think is the easiest way they can reach me, we reply to the inquiries we get as soon as we can. They can also send us an email on info@maisonyeya.com with their wedding date and we will reply with the appointments available. Also, we are launching our website, www.maisonyeya.com, so that will also facilitate the connection between us.

Femi 9 Opens in Cairo Festival City

Last Monday we headed to the somehow new Cairo Festival Mall to attend the opening of the Femi9 latest store, we were welcomed by an original orange carpet, rather than the traditional red carpet, as the orange is Femi9's theme color. We were invited to the private VIP event, then afterwards the store was open publicly. As we entered the shop a huge candy bar with popcakes and cupcakes by tortina was waiting for us. Having a walk around the shop, the trendy colours for this season as pastel colours and monochrome were all present. Long dresses and après-midi retained my attention and the perfect wide pants legs were also here.

We were seated to enjoy  a mini trunk show and some fresh vibes of the Dj. The trunk show was lead by four of Egypt's top models, including Tara Emad, and former Miss Egypt Miriam George, and was styled by Maissa Azab. A beautiful touch to the event was a caricaturist made a funny portrait of the crowd. We had the pleasure meet  our friend and femi9 's Jeddah based designer Yossra Ifoui.

Nada Akram's SS14 Launching Party

Nada Akram is considered one of Egypt's ready to wear designers. She is a young designer whose pieces are always fun to wear, mix and match and play dress up with. Her bold designs are always attracting celebrities and young fashionistas.

Nada celebrated the launch  of her latest SS'14 collection in a fabulous fashionable night at Amuse concept store. The party theme was girly and pink. For me this is the perfect kind of parties, pinks, cupcakes, macrons, flowers, pearl earrings and my favourite Essie nail polish bar, Seriously what else can I dream of? It was unforgettable nights, you know these kinds of event when you step in, and you feel like all the crowd is our friends, you mingle, eat and browse through a very beautiful collection.
